DTN's baseline desk review paints a sobering picture of youth challenges in Cameroon. With 77% youth unemployment, the urgency for structured interventions cannot be overstated. A critical gap exists between the formal education system and real-world employment opportunities. Though the Ministry of Secondary Education and the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training have established frameworks for general, technical, and vocational education, the reality remains largely theoretical—with few links between classroom learning and industry needs.
This disconnect is compounded by the fact that many authorized training centers, while recognized by government ministries, lack industry integration and do not align with the needs of employers. Despite legislation that defines pathways from vocational training to employment, implementation is weak. The dual model (theoretical + practical), inspired by the German and Swiss systems, remains largely aspirational.
DTN's mission aligns directly with three core Sustainable Development Goals:
SDG 1 – Eradicating poverty in all its forms
SDG 4 – Ensuring quality education
SDG 8 – Promoting decent work and economic growth
Our approach bridges the gap between training and opportunity. While several stakeholders claim youth-focused missions, our survey found that 70% fail to demonstrate how they empower youth for job creation or employment, and very few offer tangible pathways for even the most outstanding graduates.
At DTN, we believe that real change starts with purposeful investment in youth potential. Our work is driven by four interconnected pillars that create the foundation for transformational impact.
Youth counseling goes beyond advice—it’s about mindset transformation. We help young people answer life’s most critical questions: “What is my purpose?” and “What can I become?” Through spiritual and practical guidance, we equip youth to overcome limiting beliefs and discover their God-given mission.
Education is not just a classroom experience—it is a life-altering foundation that breaks the cycle of poverty and inequality. Our Education pillar is designed to empower young people with the knowledge, mindset, and guidance needed to make meaningful academic and career choices.
Our Training pillar is built on a simple principle: Learning must lead to earning. In a context where many youth graduate with certificates but no practical skills, we step in to provide training that is relevant, hands-on, and aligned with the realities of today’s job market.
At DTN, we understand that training alone is not enough. The true test of transformation is employment—where skills meet opportunity. Our Employability pillar focuses on equipping young people to transition confidently from learning environments into income-generating roles and purposeful careers.
